At Crawford and Keller PLLC, we focus our practice on real estate law.
Jim Crawford
has practiced in West Virginia for 35 years, with an emphasis on real estate transactions. Tasha K. Catrow has focused on real estate transactions
almost exclusively since she joined the firm
in 1999. Jim, Tasha, and
Pam Hinkle are registered title insurance agents.
With our attorneys' experience, and the assistance of a well-trained staff, we are able to provide high quality, cost efficient legal services in the following areas of real estate law:
With two locations-Charles Town, the county seat of Jefferson County, and Martinsburg, the county seat of Berkeley County, we provide convenient legal services to our clients in this fast-growing region of West Virginia.
The
Practice of law:
West
Virginia is an attorney state. This simply means that a
West Virginia licensed attorney must provide the core
real estate services for you. Title examinations, the
settlement and the preparation of legal documents are
construed as the practice of law in this State. The
stated purpose and basis for this restriction is to
protect you. Traditional title companies, even though
they may have a lawyer on staff, are not authorized to
provide these services to you.
Proficiently and Professionally
We have become so proficient at residential real estate transactions that very often the buyer can put the key into the door of his new residence within a week from the time we are presented the contract for sale.
We have excellent relationships with many banks, lending institutions, and title companies, which can help us move deals along expeditiously.
We also have the knowledge and ability to handle complex commercial real estate transactions. Banks often rely on us to perform the due diligence required to get a major commercial property acquisition done properly.
Real estate developers have learned to rely on the depth of our knowledge regarding local zoning laws, plus our familiarity with the way business is done in Jefferson and Berkeley Counties, to pave the way for a successful project.
If you are looking for professional legal services to accomplish your real estate transaction or development project,
